Based on “A Game of Thrones”, the first novel in the series of “A Song of Fire and Ice” written by George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones or GOT is perhaps the most popular series ever. Premiered on HBO in the year 2011, it became a cult soon for its impeccable cinematography, excellent direction, and ruthless characters. No other show ever got this huge rating and all through its 8 seasons, it has maintained this high standard. Season 1:
The series opens in Westeros and Essos. The primary focus of this season is on the family of Ned Stark. He is the warden if the North and now asked to be the hand of the King. On his way to search the murderer of Jon Arryn, the predecessor of the current king Robert Baratheon, he learns many deep and dark secrets of the Lannister family. This secret involves Cersei, the queen of Robert. The predecessor died while trying to expose Cersei. Now, this leads to Roberts death and arrest of Ned who is layer killed on the order of Cersei. Meanwhile, in Essos, we see Viserys Targaryen coerced his sister Daenerys to marry Dothraki in exchange for an army to gain the Iron Throne. The 1st season ends with his death and Daenerys becoming the mother of dragons.

Season 2:
The index of Game of Thrones season 2 is l about the war of the 5 kings. Some of them are fighting for the Iron Throne and some just want freedom from it. Tyrion, the dwarf brother of Cersei acts as King Jeffrey’s hand until Tywin Lannister returns to help fight the capital. In Essos, there are 3 newborn dragons and Daenerys works hard to find resources to win the Iron Throne. The season ends with a glimpse of the army of the dead.

Season 3:
The index of Game of Thrones season 3 speaks about the war fought between the remaining four kings after the demise of Renly Baratheon. All 4 kings in Westeros believe that they are perfect for the throne except Robb Stark. His ambition is to take revenge for the killing of his father and the freedom of the North. Daenerys becomes more powerful in Essos while Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Ned goes undercover beyond the Wall. With the turn of incidents, Robb is killed while Jaime Lannister returns to the capital.

Season 4:
Now the remaining 3 kings fight for the throne. The other index of Game of Thrones season 4 is that- Joffrey is killed at his wedding and Tyrion is blamed while young Tommen Baratheon is welcomed as the king. On the other hand, Sansa Stark breaks free King’s Landing. And there at the Wall Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch start a battle against 100,000 Wildings. Bran Stark moves beyond the Wall and meets the Three-Eyed Raven. Daenerys captures Meereen and rules Slaver’s Bay. Also, she chains up her dragons who are now difficult to control. By the end, we see Arya Stark sailing alone to Braavos on Essos.

Season 5:

Arya Stark gets training as an assassin in Bravo’s. Jaime recovers Myrcella from Dorne but she is killed.

Season 6:

Cersei is then crowned as the queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya completes her training and returns to Westeros to take her revenge. Bran Stark returns to the Wall. Daenerys burns the Khals and Varys secures a strong alliance for her with Olenna and the Dornish.

Season 7:
The index of Game of Thrones season 7 is all about the final preparations for the final season. Daenerys comes to Westeros with her large army and three large dragons. Jon Snow comes to help her. Arya and Bran return to Winterfell and executes the Littlefingers. On his way to the North Jon Snow and his army are nearly killed. By the end, Bran learns that Jon is his cousin and Aegon Targaryen, the lawful successor to the Iron Throne.

Season 8:
The index of Game of Thrones final season talks of the two major issues. One, the Great war against the Army of the Dead, and two, the last war if control over the Iron Throne. All through the first half of the season finale, the main characters gather at Winter to face the Dead. Cersei strengthens her force to face Daenerys. During the second half of the season finale, the war for the Iron Throne continues. Daenerys kills Cersei, her force, burns the city, and later Jon kills her. Her last dragon Drogon flies with her body. The rest of the leaders select Bran Stark as the king who grants freedom to the North. He keeps Tyrion as his hand. Sansa Stark becomes the queen of the North. Arya sails west while Jon goes North of the Wall leading the Wildings.

This series was directed by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and won many accolades throughout these 8 seasons. It saw an ensemble cast but the most popular ones were Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, and Lena Headey.
