From Instagram to Entrepreneurship: Aashna Shroff’s Business Ventures

When Aashna Shroff started her journey into the world of fashion blogging almost a decade ago, India didn’t have a digital content creation culture. Influencer marketing was side-lined for brands and social media platforms like Instagram were not very popular. Today, however, she is one of the most well-known and successful digital content creators and influencers in the country, with over 1 million followers on Instagram and around 187k subscribers on YouTube. She also recently won her first reality show as a judge with Myntra Fashion Superstar.

The Start

Seven-eight years ago, when Aashna Shroff started her journey as a creator, there were not many people in India who were doing the same. There were some very successful international actors and she was inspired by them. She looked at their style and content and learned a lot from there.

Aashna originally started with a Facebook store called “The Snob Store” where she sold fashion accessories and products imported from China. Soon, she started posting her pictures on social media, which started receiving positive comments about her style. This inspired her to start her blog, The Snob Journal, where she documents her style, lifestyle, and travels. She watched it on a YouTube channel. At the same time, her followers on other social media platforms also grew and made her quite popular among netizens. It also got many good deals from brands like Nykaa, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder, Myntra, Vivo and more.

Aashna’s Collaboration Inspiration

When asked how she chooses which brands to work with since so many brands are now going digital, Aashna said that her first preference is always brands that she uses or is interested in. She thinks that being in the fashion and beauty industry, it is very important for her to personally try products before recommending them, especially the latest ones. Second, every product she recommends must connect with her audience. They shouldn’t feel it’s forced or inappropriate.

Aashna is currently enjoying her time as a judge on Myntra Fashion Superstar, a brand she has been working with for quite some time. And she’s excited that creators like her can be on such big platforms. Myntra has been working with influencers for a long time. And being on the Myntra Fashion Superstar panel was a great experience for her. They worked as a team with the manufacturers and were amazed at everything they put on the table.

Thoughts on the New Influencers

Aashna feels that the new group of influencers is much more eager and passionate about the craft than when she and the rest of her group started. Future creators now have much more inspiration and points of reference. They are also much more determined and stronger to understand the business and make their mark. The influencer community has a great opportunity to grow in the future as brands invest more time and effort into the space.

Aashna has managed to make a name for herself in the industry through her hard work, dedication, and impeccable sense of style.
