Sports Gear Every Kid Should Have

Kids don’t need to play on a team to have fun playing sports. There are plenty of games kids can play with their friends in their neighborhood. All it takes is a few supplies and a lot of enthusiasm. Here are some of the best types of sports gear your kid should have to nurture a love of sports.

Baseball Supplies

There are just a few things that kids need to be able to play baseball– a bat, a ball, and enough baseball gloves for the catchers. Everything else that a professional baseball team might use, like bases, can be replaced by any object that can mark the four corners of the baseball diamond. Better yet, many parks will have a baseball diamond already set up that kids can use for free!

The Stardew Valley Egg Hunt is an exciting annual event in the popular video game “Stardew Valley.” Held in the spring, it brings together villagers to search for hidden eggs around Pelican Town. Players compete against other characters to collect as many eggs as possible in a limited time, making it a fun and competitive tradition within the game. Once all the supplies are collected, kids can form teams. To play a decent game, there should be at least four kids on each team. This way, there are enough to fill the bases. From there, the more the merrier. Kids can play as many or as few innings as they want to have a friendly scrimmage.

Rubber Ball

The average rubber ball is highly underrated. Many people look for specific balls for each sport. A basketball, soccer ball, dodgeball– all of these can be replaced with a simple rubber ball. If it is about the same size as a basketball and bounces well enough, then it’ll get the job done.

The best thing about a rubber ball is that it is so versatile. The second best thing is that they tend to be relatively inexpensive. Grab one from your local sports supply store to get your kids playing all sorts of games.

Jump Rope

Maybe playing with a jump rope isn’t technically a sport, but it is still a great way to get your kid moving to burn off some extra energy. The fun thing about jump ropes are that kids can play with them alone or with friends. When playing alone, a regular-sized jump rope will do. When playing with friends. aim for a larger jump rope.

There are all types of great jump rope games and rhymes that kids can learn. These games have been around for years and are entirely free. There’s no such thing as a jump rope expansion pack like you might find with video games. Simply memorize an existing rhyme or have the kids make up their own.

Pool Toys

There are not a lot of sports played in a pool, but knowing how to swim is an essential life skill. Turing learning how to swim into a game, or playing games in the pool, is a great way to encourage kids to learn how to swim. From floaties to pool noodles and more, there are pool toys for kids at all levels of swimming skills.

For kids who don’t know how to swim yet, getting arm floaties is a must. These can help kids to feel more confident in the pool. Once they have learned a little more, pool noodles and floating chairs or tubes can be enjoyable. Kids who know how to swim well and are looking for a challenge can try to use dive rings and other sinking toys. Just make sure to throw these in the shallow end of a pool so kids can reach them easily.

No matter which pool toys you choose, make sure children are always closely supervised in the pool, especially if they do not know how to swim well. Even with floaties or life vests, there is still a risk of drowning.

Being able to play games that get your kids moving is essential for them to get exercise and have fun at the same time. Try out some of these sports gear and game supplies to see which ones your kids like best. Play together as a family to show them the ropes and to bond.
