Adam Zampa: A Courageous Leg Spinner

Zampa decided to bowl leg spin instead of medium speed after Cricket Australia changed the rules for Under-14 matches. Because of these new regulations, fast bowlers not allowed to throw their deliveries as quickly as they had in the past. In 2009, he selected for the Under-19 team. The following year, in 2010, he participated in the Under-19 World Cup for Australia.

When he was younger, he enjoyed a great deal of success because he could throw well and far beyond where his competitors could reach. Therefore, New South Wales became his employer in 2010. However, because the team already possessed several capable spinners, he gave the opportunity to play right away. Zampa made his debut in first-class competition during the 2012–2013 Sheffield Shield season when he faced off against Queensland. By the time the game was over, he had taken five wickets.

He offered a contract to play for South Australia in the year 2013. The following season, in 2014–2015, he scored his first hat trick while playing for South Australia in the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup against Western Australia. In the competition known as the Big Bash, he has played for both the Adelaide Strikers and the Melbourne Stars. Zampa has been successful in taking wickets at both the first-class and list-A levels, with a total of 105 first-class and 147 list-A wickets over the course of 38 and 99 games respectively. IPL Career

Zampa’s performance in Twenty20 matches left franchise owners impressed due to the fact that he consistently bowled well at a low cost. Franchise owners impressed by Zampa’s performance.

The Rising Pune Supergiants purchased that in the nick of time before the company went out of business. Zampa, who competed for a team that MS Dhoni and Steve Smith coached, had the second-best bowling performance in the history of the Indian Premier League when he defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad with six wickets and only 19 runs. Smith and Dhoni were the head coaches of the team that Zampa played for.

This wrist-spinner played well on the turning fields in India, as seen by the 19 wickets he grabbed in 11 games of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In spite of the fact that he had a successful run in the IPL over the course of two years. He was not select by any team. In the year 2020, however, Royal Challengers Bangalore made the decision to acquire Zampa rather than the Australian player Kane Richardson. Richardson was also a player from Australia.

International Career

ODI Career

On February 6, 2016, during the second game of Australia and New Zealand’s Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series, Zampa played his maiden game for his country. The series was between Australia and New Zealand. Zampa joined the Australian team just before the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series began to ensure Australia’s success in the competition. In his first game as a professional, he assigned ten overs to bowl and he finished all of them. He took two wickets but allowed 57 runs to go past him.

Zampa was a member of the Australian side that competed in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. This tournament took place in 2017. It rained on two of Australia’s three games in the group stage, and the team ultimately did not advance past the group stage. As a result, he did not get a lot of playing time. In April, it disclosed that he would be participating in the 2019 Cricket World Cup as a member of the Australian national squad. Zampa has participated in 58 one-day internationals over the course of his career and has amassed 85 wickets during that time.

T20I Career

Adam Zampa’s debut as a player came on March 4, 2016. When South Africa was the opposition team in his first cricket match. The abridged version of the game was the one he used to play. Although he did not take a wicket, his economy rate of 6.50 runs per over and the fact that he completed all of his allotted overs were both positive signs for the team.

Zampa has made sufficient progress since making his first appearance for the squad to warrant keeping him on the roster. As a result of the brevity of Twenty20 matches. It was quite simple to evaluate his performance as a wicket-taker at a low cost. As a consequence of this, he selected to be a member of the team that would take part in the T20 World Cup in 2016. Even though Adam Zampa had an impressive economy rate of 6.27 and grabbed the most wickets for Australia. The team did not fare very well in the event. Zampa was the bowler that got the most wickets.

The Australian team made the decision not to use him in the second Twenty20 game of the series against Sri Lanka in 2016–17. Which resulted in a defeat, despite the fact that he was a frequent contributor to the team’s success.

He bowled well enough to get three wickets while only allowing 25 runs to score against him because the following game didn’t really matter. As a result of this, Australia was in a solid position to come out on top of the competition. He has participated in a total of 33 Twenty20 Internationals throughout his career and has claimed 36 wickets.
